ABA Law Practice Volunteers with “Project Street Youth”

0

On a beautiful, sunny day in San Diego on Friday, November 7th, members of the ABA Law Practice Division collaborated with the ABA Young Lawyers Division in their Project Street Youth to put on a successful legal clinic for homeless youth. Law Practice Legal Legends, Bob Young and Tom Bolt led the volunteer effort, along with San Diego Legal Aid, local corporation counsel and ABA Young Lawyers Division members. We helped street youth with immigration, family law and identification issues. This is especially serious since child homelessness has recently surged to an all-time high in America.

Another positive was the great networking that all of the 25 attorneys had at the clinic. This kind of event helps local community organizations identify attorneys who are willing to help homeless youth in the future. To say the least, San Diego youth are better off now because of this great gathering. The cherry on top of this great event was having ABA Law Practice Secretary L. Leona Frank and ABA President-Elect Paulette Brown join us and support the clinic. In summary, it was a successful event for the Pro Bono and Public Service Interest Group. We plan on providing more opportunities like this in the future for our members. These projects are a great way to use our unique skills to make a huge impact and give back to our community. See you at the next one!
