The Golden Hammer Award honors lawyers, judges, law firms, law schools, corporate legal departments, and any other individual or entity that achieved professional excellence and a commitment to diversity.

About Patricia Gillette, recipient of the 2015 Golden Hammer Award

Ms. Gillette’s practice at Orrick focuses on all aspects of employment law. She is an experienced trial lawyer and regularly handles complex employment litigation. She is a frequent lecturer to management employment groups across the country.

Patricia Gillette’s Commitment to Professional Excellence and Diversity

Ms. Gillette has been actively involved in national projects focusing on the retention of women in the legal industry and is a frequent writer and keynote speaker on these issues. She is the co-founder of the Opt-In Project, a nationwide initiative focused on changing the structure of law firms to increase the retention and advancement of women in the workplace. She served for three years as a Commissioner on the ABA Commission for Women in the Profession, co-chaired the San Francisco Bar Association’s No Glass Ceiling Initiative, served on the board of the National Association of Women Lawyers Foundation, is a member of the ABA’s Gender Equity Task force and co-chaired the Model Compensation Committee of that Task Force.

Ms. Gillette is chair of the Development Committee for DirectWomen, a non-profit dedicated to placing women attorneys on boards of public companies. Ms. Gillette is a member of the Austin Consortium, a national group of thought leaders on women’s issues in the legal profession. At Orrick, Ms. Gillette chairs the Women’s Affinity Group.

Rebecca Haack is the Administrator at Fullenweider Wilhite, a Houston-based Family Law firm specializing in complex divorce, business valuation, and asset division.  She has 6 years’ expertise in the administration of law firms and has worked in many legal environments including Corporate Litigation, Insurance Defense, Subrogation, Plaintiff, and Family Law.  Rebecca is an active member of the Law Practice Division, on the Member Development Committee, and is the Editor of Law Practice News.
